WHAT IS SCiM?

SCiM (Student Conference in Maribor) is a 10-day international student conference where you can hang out with people from all around the world, participate in creative workshops, attend parties and various afternoon activities, and explore the beautiful country of Slovenia during a 1-day excursion.

WHERE IS SCiM?

SCiM takes place in Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia.

WHO CAN APPLY?

All students, between the ages of 18 and 28, who have a valid student status at the time of the conference are welcome to apply. While applying you will be asked to attach your proof of studies to the application.

Go to the Apply page on this website and click on the link. You can also visit our Facebook or Instagram pages and follow the links from there.

IS THERE A PARTICIPATION FEE?

Yes! Participants must pay a participation fee of approximately 150€. All selected applicants will receive detailed instruction on how to pay the fee.

WHAT DOES THE PARTICIPATION FEE INCLUDE?

The participation fee includes accommodation, food (dinner on the arrival day, three meals per day during the conference, breakfast on the departure day), workshop expenses, excursion and all the afternoon and evening activities.

CAN YOU PAY FOR MY TRAVEL EXPENSES?

Unfortunately, we don’t have the budget to offer financial support to participants regarding their travel costs.

HOW CAN I GET TO MARIBOR?

Check out the ,,How to get to Maribor’’ page on this website. There are many ways to travel to Maribor, so you can choose the one that suits you best.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INVITATION LETTER AND A LETTER OF GUARANTEE?

Invitation letter – this letter formally states that you are invited to SCiM, and that we will provide food and accommodation for you during the time of the conference. It is signed by our main organizer and has a stamp of the student organization (ŠOUM). We will send these letter via e-mail to all the participants once the selection process is over.

Letter of guarantee – an official document that is issued to participants that need it to acquire their visa. Please only ask for this letter if you really need it, because they take a lot of time to obtain (they must be officially notarized by Slovenian government). We will provide it to you if you state that you need it in your application.

HOW DO I EXCHANGE MONEY?

The currency in Slovenia is Euro (€); you can exchange it at almost any bank or exchange office.

IS TAP WATER SAFE TO DRINK?

The water is safe and drinkable throughout the country.

WHERE WILL THE PARTICIPANTS BE ACCOMODATED?

At the student dormitory called Dijaški Dom Drava. Check out the ,,Accommodation’’ page at our website for more information about this.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND THE WORKSHOP EVERY DAY?

Yes, to receive a certificate at the end of the conference, you must be present every day.
